Scan the Horizon: Look Forward and See the Big Picture

As a Captain, I know a GPS screen tells us where we are right now. It tracks our current position, coordinates, and speed.

But our current position is a lagging indicator. It is the result of piloting decisions we made hours ago.

If we navigate solely by data on a digital dashboard, we may be endangered by an unseen hazard or miss a favorable change in weather.

Look up from your screen. Step outside and scan the horizon.

Safe and speedy ventures are more likely when we see the big picture. 🌊
